Speeds

The nbn® speed tier is the maximum possible download/upload speed (Mbps) available during off-peak periods. Actual speeds may be lower for reasons including congestion, location, local conditions, hardware, software, concurrent users, and third-party infrastructure not monitored or maintained by Layer 3. Plans above 100/40 are only available via FTTP and some HFC locations.

Speed tests and your options

FTTB, FTTN and FTTC customers can check actual speeds once connected and may have the option to downgrade to a lower speed or cancel the plan.

Medical and security alarms

If you have a back-to-base security alarm or medical alarm, contact your security or medical provider to confirm nbn® compatibility and identify any alternatives.

Power outages

Your nbn® service will not function during a power outage unless devices are on backup power. You will not be able to make or receive calls (including emergency services) over the nbn® service and should use a mobile phone instead. For critical safety devices, consider secondary connectivity such as 4G/5G.

nbn®, nbn co and other nbn® logos and brands are trade marks of nbn co limited and used under licence.

Information about the service

Layer 3 business NBN services provide internet access to your premises wherever access to the nbn® network is available, using FTTP, FTTN, FTTB, FTTC, HFC and Fixed Wireless technologies. The minimum contract term is 1 month.

These plans are for an nbn® broadband service for use within Australia, within the nbn fixed line service footprint.

  • Is the customer required to buy any goods as part of the offer? Yes — new connections include a Layer 3–supplied Dual-Band Wi-Fi 6 VDSL/ADSL Modem Router (pre-configured for auto-deploy), at a one-off cost of $270.00 ex GST including delivery
Speeds and availability

The selected speed tier is the maximum possible download/upload speed (Mbps) available during off-peak periods. Actual speeds may be lower due to congestion, location, local conditions, hardware, software, concurrent users, and third-party infrastructure not monitored or maintained by Layer 3.

FTTB, FTTN and FTTC customers can check actual speeds once connected and may have the option to downgrade to a lower speed. Plans with speeds above 100/40 are only available via FTTP and some HFC locations. A restricted plan selection may apply after service qualification — not all speeds are available at all addresses.

Pricing

Monthly plan fees and any optional extras are not published on this page. After your application is reviewed, Layer 3 will send a written quote confirming applicable charges for your premises and selected speed tier.

New connections include a one-off modem charge of $270.00 ex GST (including delivery) for a Dual-Band Wi-Fi 6 VDSL/ADSL Modem Router, pre-configured by Layer 3. Quotes will also confirm monthly service charges and any optional extras or nbn Co installation / development charges that apply to your site.

What is not included

Monthly plan fees do not include the modem. Hardware is supplied separately as a one-off purchase with your new connection (see Pricing and Mandatory components). Any non-standard nbn Co installation or development charges are also excluded from the monthly fee and are confirmed in your quote where they apply.

Early termination charges

There are no early termination charges on standard month-to-month services, except where you have opted for nbn fibre connect. For fibre connect, if you downgrade your plan or cancel within 12 months of the fibre upgrade being completed, an early termination charge may apply. Any applicable charge will be confirmed in your quote and order confirmation.

Mandatory components and conditions

New connections require a Layer 3–supplied Dual-Band Wi-Fi 6 VDSL/ADSL Modem Router. Units are pre-configured to auto-deploy once plugged in. Exact models may change over time; the device class remains Dual-Band Wi-Fi 6 VDSL/ADSL.

In FTTC, FTTP and HFC areas, some equipment owned by nbn Co may need to be installed at your premises if it is not already present, and a 240-volt power supply is required. Internal cabling is the customer's responsibility and cost. Provisioning may be delayed if cabling is insufficient.

Services will not function during a power failure unless all associated equipment is powered by an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS).

Additional charges that may apply

Depending on your address and order, additional charges may apply — for example optional static IP, non-standard installation quoted by nbn Co, activation of a new or inactive copper pair, an additional nbn® connection box, or a new developments charge for the first internet connection at a new development site.

Where any of these apply, amounts will be confirmed in your written quote before you proceed.

Fibre Connect program

Eligible locations are determined by nbn Co. Layer 3 does not guarantee that a Fibre Connect order will be successful. Where Fibre Connect is ordered, a minimum plan selection of 500 Mbps typically applies. Details will be confirmed during application review.

Fair use

nbn® services are subject to fair use. You must not use the service in an unreasonable or fraudulent manner, or in a way that detrimentally interferes with the integrity of the Layer 3 or carrier network. We may suspend or cancel a service if this policy is breached.

Billing and customer support

Usage and billing questions can be raised with Layer 3 support. Automatic payment schedules may vary based on your account billing type.
